Where is Nicola Eye Care located in Kamloops?
We’re located at 101-286 St Paul Street in downtown Kamloops, BC. We serve patients throughout Kamloops and the surrounding Thompson-Nicola region.
Do you accept walk-ins or do I need an appointment?
We operate by appointment to ensure each patient receives personalized attention. You can book online through our patient portal or call us at (250) 374-2441. We are happy to see walk-ins for glasses-related issues, adjustments, pick-ups, and new glasses purchases.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We work with most extended benefit companies including Pacific Blue Cross, Sunlife, Canada Life, Green Shield, and many others. We can direct bill most plans if you’re signed up for e-claims. Some plans will require you to pay up front.
How much does an eye exam cost?
Adult eye exams start at $140, though the fee may vary based on what our doctors find during your examination. BC Medical may cover a portion if you’re eligible based on eye health needs.
Do you have an on-site optical lab?
Yes! Our in-house optical lab with edger allows us to cut and insert your lenses into the frames on-site, saving you time and money while ensuring premium quality. All our lenses are manufactured off-site, but cutting them in-house means that if you’re just replacing the lenses in your own frame, you won’t be without your glasses for two weeks.
How many eyeglass frames do you carry?
We stock over 1,200 optical frames in our Kamloops location, ensuring you’ll find the perfect style for your face shape and personal aesthetic.
Can I order contact lenses online from you?
Yes, you can order and re-order contact lenses through our secure online shop after your fitting appointment.
What technology do you use for eye exams?
We use cutting-edge equipment including optical coherence tomography (OCT), digital wide-field retinal imaging (optos), visual field testing, topography, meibography, and binocular vision testing (Neurolens). We strive to always stay up to date with the latest technology in the industry to best serve our patients. In addition to routine examinations, we also offer IPL and RF treatments for dry eyes, and macumira for dry macular degeneration. Ask your eye doctor if you are a candidate for these treatments.
